I am Aleksandra Rechtman and I’ve been a Complementary Therapist for the last 20 years, initially using EFT, Emotional Clearing, Somatic Work and now Dreamwork Coaching plus IFS (Parts Work). I may combine different techniques during a session as everyone’s journey is unique. We also might need different approaches at different times in our lives.
I come from a therapeutic bodywork background, combining Energy Medicine, Bodywork and Emotional Integration approaches.
About Me - A Short History
My first experiences of therapeutic work and study include working at The Women’s Therapy Centre in London in the early 2000’s, a centre set up by Suzie Orbach, a British psychoanalyst.
My interest grew out of my own struggles with anxiety and complex trauma. I know firsthand that relief and true inner connection is possible. I believe that can be achieved through cultivating self-compassion and becoming a loving guide to your own disowned parts.
For 10 years from 2003 – 2012 I worked at Women & Health in London as an aromatherapist and a biodynamic counsellor. We worked with women who experienced anxiety, depression, serious mental health problems and with victims of sexual violence. It was a challenging and demanding but extremely rewarding work. I worked on projects with The Rape Crisis and on projects for carers of children with disabilities and carers of elderly with dementia. I also worked with children with disabilities and learning difficulties and their parents and guardians at a place called Palace for All.
I have extensive knowledge in aged care and worked with many elderly clients, including end of life care and palliative care.
One of my passions is also helping animals and their guardians in self-healing through natural remedies and mindfulness.
Curiosity has taken me to places like Bali, Indonesia to learn how to help deliver babies, and I studied to be a Doula (birthing assistant) with The Doula Consultancy Services.
In my spare time I love spending time with animals and in nature, reading books and dancing. I have a hopeful part that loves learning and is always looking for most effective and gentle techniques to connect and heal. I live in the beautiful countryside in Devon, UK.
